What's New?

The Bench Project - The Neighborhood M.A.P (More Active People) Project, organized by the Center for Aging and Healthcare (CAH), has been working to make improvements to help people move from idle to active and begin their walking adventure.  Research shows that people are more likely to go for a walk if they feel safe and have places to rest along the way.  The Bench Project for the Jefferson School Neighborhood is designed to improve the walking environment for residents of the community by providing benches that will be installed along a one mile designated walking route.

Benches can be sponsored by any individual or organization for $925, which includes a bronze recognition plaque with the sponsor’s name.  The benches are four feet long, made of treated steel, and are set in a concrete base.  The City of Parkersburg will install the benches at no charge.  If you wish to sponsor a bench contact Deanna Lewis at (304) 422-2853 for more information.  Help the Jefferson School Neighborhood go from idle to active and make theirs a longer walk in the spirit of adventure.
